About Dr. Jen Wahlund – Veterinarian with Peaceful Endings
After growing up in Valley City, North Dakota, Jennifer Wahlund, DVM, graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology, and from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM in 2003. During veterinary school, she enjoyed serving as President of the student chapter of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and receiving the prestigious Outstanding Surgeon Award of her graduating class.
Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Wahlund served as an associate veterinarian at a high-volume veterinary practice in Aurora, IL at Banfield Pet Hospital and quickly earned the title of Chief of Staff and Business Partner. During this time, she oversaw daily operations, led a successful team of over twenty employees, and saw more than 6,000 individual cases per year. From 2010-2018, Dr. Wahlund enjoyed a change of pace practicing small animal medicine at Gateway Veterinary Clinic in St. Charles, IL.
Dr. Wahlund has achieved Level 2 Fear Free Certification, enjoys exploring training and behavior strategies with clients, and collaborates with well-known scientifically based trainers in the area. Dr. Wahlund is a member of AVMA and ISVMA, holds state veterinary licenses in Illinois and Iowa, and has attended over a dozen international veterinary conferences.
Jennifer Wahlund lives in Aurora, IL with her husband Ben, three dogs – Charlie Parker (Brittany), Banner (Border Collie), and puppy, Spencer (Border Collie) – three birds, fresh and saltwater fish, and a pet tortoise. Dr. Jennifer enjoys garage sales, metal detecting, coin collecting, traveling, and reading books.
Jennifer’s favorite free time is spent enjoying canine performance activities with her two dogs, Charlie Parker (Brittany) and Dr. Bruce Banner (Border Collie). Together they have earned over four hundred titles and National and International recognition, a number of Grand Championships/Championships in Dock Diving, Agility, Nose Work, Barn Hunt, Rally Obedience, Traditional Obedience, Conformation, Lure Coursing, Fast CAT, Herding, Disc Dog events, and Weight Pull.
